I want to thank everyone that has made this page possible for Geneva residents to express their opinions. I did not register in this forum because I find my day so occupied with my daily responsibilities. I preferred others to worry about what the city of Geneva was doing with my taxes. I also like to give elected officials the benefit of the doubt, as well as my trust until they betray that trust.
Now here I am, because of two ignorant comments made by two individuals with a public position that grants them the opportunity to make a difference. One of those ignorant comments was made today by Jeff Ward on the Geneva Patch, by trying to ridicule the efforts of Mr. McQuillan, a citizen voicing the opinion of most of Geneva residents. The other one was made by school board member Matt Henry when he according to witnessed state that "it is arrogant to move into a house you can't afford" and made reference to "folks who had overextended themselves."
It is this type of ignorance, and lack of consideration for others, that brings me to this webpage today. As much as I hate getting involved in politics, the current trend in our local government is ridiculous. So I am sorry for the lenghty reply, but here I am, willing to help make a difference. Even if it is just to add my voice to the many unheard and overtaxed payers of the city of Geneva.
