Public Accountability

• Questions by the public can be asked via email* or at school board meetings. Board Policy should be that questions asked by the public at board meetings will be answered at next board meeting. They will also be posted on the District website at https://www.geneva304.org/FAQ/faq.asp.
• Carry out Oath of Office:
  "I shall encourage and respect the free expression of opinion by my fellow board members and others who seek a hearing before the board...”

Bottom-Up Budgeting

• Minimize the yearly tax levy increase by requesting an amount that will cover budget needs and provide a realistic reserve fund.  The maximum levy should only be requested after the board proves that the increase is needed.
• Administration is given direction by the school board.
• Carry out Oath of Office:
  "I shall respect taxpayer interests by serving as a faithful protector of the school district's assets...”

Community Involvement

• District 304 School Board should invite budget preparation and input from a committe of residents representing business, educational and economic interests.
• Reduce the need for hired consultants.
